Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had two procedures under anesthesia to remove kidney stones in my bladder. These were on December 9 and January 3. A recent blood test shows a rather dramatic increase in blood sugar--from about 120 to 144 and A!C from 6.7 to 7. CAn the procedures and anesthesia have caused this rise?
Hello dear I understand your concern Procedure and anesthesia does nit cause increase in blood sugar and Hb1Ac. But stress regarding procedure, systemic infection may cause increase in blood sugar cause as it increase release of steroid hormone. I would suggest to repeat the fasting blood sugar and post meal blood sugar after 2 week to confirm diabetes. You have already slight higher value of sugar and HbA1c. Do regualr exercise, daily in morning for 45-60 minutes Cut down high glycemic food Take more green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. SAGAR
